I am slowly realising how important it is to have a succession plan. The one question we forget to ask our selves is, “Who do I become after the achievement?” This is for achieving anything from publishing a book, dating and marrying the girl of your dreams, getting the qualification you studied hard for to getting your dream job. The pursuit of all these things are fun, but what happens after they are reached?
People with well thought-out succession plans can find it difficult to stay in one place or be comfortable with what they have. In the words of John Maxwell, “People who stretch themselves have a greater shot at significance than those who do not.”
A succession plan makes the short term goal look small and easy to achieve. It prepares the mind to conquer what it perceives as the bigger task which comes after. Your attitude is different from many others because your timeline is longer, because while you are busy with one fight you are already thinking about how you will celebrate the victory as you prepare for the next one. So every book that you read, every hobby that you cultivate, every video that you watch becomes more equipping because of how far you plan to build.
So let us not remain to the thinking parameters of just setting a goal and picturing how life will look better when a goal is achieved. Let us be the people who go the extra mile by starting to plan our lives for after the achievement and planning how we can get a similar achievement with mitigated risk being involved.
The days of competing are over; its all about Dominating now. So in all that we do, let us have a succession plan! WINNERS WIN🏆
